Dr. Lanre Badmus – Outgoing Pioneer Regional Director World Aquaculture Society (WAS), African Chapter – West Africa Region
The West Africa Region of the World Aquaculture Society has firmly established itself as a dynamic and respected force within the global aquaculture community. What began as a vision without formal structure has grown into a strong, organized, and influential regional body. The transformation has been both intentional and inspiring.
After six fulfilling and impactful years of service as Pioneer Regional Director, my tenure officially comes to a close. It has been a privilege to serve and to witness the collective dedication that built this region from the ground up.
In the coming weeks, I will be sharing a comprehensive account of my stewardship, highlighting the individuals whose sacrifices, commitment, and leadership made this growth possible. This story is not mine alone; it belongs to every pioneer member, partner, and supporter who believed in the vision.
My forthcoming book, My Stewardship, will chronicle:
The journey from inception and foundational milestones
The pioneering members and landmark programs that shaped the region
Strategic initiatives, membership drives, and regional expansion efforts
Challenges encountered and lessons learned
Partnerships and collaborative engagements that strengthened our footprint
The positioning and current status of the West Africa Region within the global WAS framework
Photo highlights and recognition of outstanding contributors
The book will also unveil my next strategic step, what I describe as the fourth degree of action, and the broader vision ahead.
The journey continues. The foundation is strong. The future is promising.
